Kite season in France — when to go

Best time: April to June and September-October. Wind is most regular then (Tramontane and Mistral on the Mediterranean, westerlies and sea breezes on the Atlantic and Channel), the water is bearable and beaches are open. July-August: weaker thermals and bathing zones restrict kiting on many beaches. Winter is very windy (especially Languedoc and the Atlantic) but cold and often gusty: for experienced riders in a thick wetsuit.
