The beach of Langrune-sur-Mer is oriented west, which favors side-on or side-shore winds from northwest to west, the most common in Normandy. At high tide, the water surface is more restricted but takeoff remains possible from the beach set up by the Voiles de Nacre school. At low tide, the beach widens significantly, offering a spacious launch area and shallow navigation space with standing possible over a good distance.
The navigation area extends in front of the beach, avoiding marked swimming zones and practitioners of other water sports like catamaran or paddle. Takeoff is done directly on the sand, with help recommended from other riders or instructors for safety. Downwind sessions are feasible towards the south towards Courseulles, but always respecting the buoys and maritime traffic.
Local feature: strong tidal influence, with a coefficient that can radically change the size of the workable area. Always check tide times and conditions via the Voiles de Nacre weather station. The spot is versatile, suitable for freeride and initiation thanks to its sandy bottom without obstacles.
