Plage de Santa Giulia
France · Corse
Santa Giulia beach, located near Porto-Vecchio in Southern Corsica, is a horseshoe bay lined with fine sand and turquoise water. It is a popular spot for families due to its gradual depth and calmness, but also for water sports enthusiasts when the wind picks up.
Just a ten-minute drive from the center of Porto-Vecchio, it offers a wild setting with red rocks in the background. Riders come here for sessions when the thermals of summer make their appearance, in a relaxed atmosphere away from more technical spots.
The area remains authentic despite its tourist popularity, with quieter zones at the end of the bay for peaceful navigation.

Medie storiche per mese — non è una previsione live.
Santa Giulia beach is oriented southwest, which favors west and southwest winds in side-on or side-shore, perfect for easy launching from the sand. The navigation area extends offshore from the horseshoe bay, with a large downwind area towards the south, but one must remain vigilant about bathers at the edge. Launching is simple on the fine sand, with no obstacles, and takeoff is done directly on the wide beach, even with crowds in summer.
The water is generally flat to chop with afternoon thermals, more choppy if there is onshore wind or some Mediterranean swell. There is no pronounced tidal effect here, but at low tide the depth remains generous near the shore. Ideal sessions occur in the middle of the day when the thermal rises, with a good downwind window towards Piantarella 18 km away if the wind holds.
Local peculiarity: the spot is shared with bathers and families, so a designated kite area is marked in season. Avoid early windless days, as it heats up quickly in the afternoon with summer thermals.
