Conque
France · Occitanie
The Conque à Mèze, located on the northern shores of the Étang de Thau in Occitanie, is a popular spot in a protected and natural setting. This corner of the fishing port of Mèze offers direct access to the lagoon, with a calm and authentic atmosphere favored by local riders.
The ID Kite school is established there, making sessions easier for all levels. The area is vast and sheltered, perfect for progressing without the waves of the sea.
There is a dedicated launch area on a safe zone, with strict safety rules.
Medie storiche per mese — non è una previsione live.
The Conque à Mèze works well with winds from all directions thanks to the shape of the Étang de Thau, but the Tramontane from the north (N, NW) is dominant and side-on for the north beach, creating an ideal flat water surface. In south winds (S, SE), it is more side-off, with a thermal in the afternoon in summer that strengthens the breeze.
Launching is done via a safe zone on a sandbar accessible by a valve, with priority for riders coming in and only one kite taking off or landing at a time. Once launched, you can ride wide in the lagoon with an average depth of 4-5 m, with sandbanks for waterstarting in shallow water.
No strong tidal impact like at sea, but levels vary slightly; prefer mid-tide for more space. Navigation zones: center of the lagoon towards the south, avoid the west edges near the ports. The ID Kite school helps with launching, perfect for freeride and freestyle.
