Plage des 3 Digues
France · France métropolitaine
The 3 Digues beach in Sète, located between the city and Marseillan, is a vast stretch of sand with a large parking area and a lifeguard station in summer. It is a well-equipped kitesurf spot with a dedicated area, managed by the Thau Kite Club.
The beach offers easy access via the bike path or by car, and it is surrounded by restaurants and a vineyard. Riders appreciate its fine sand and the reserved space for practice all year round.
In season, it is necessary to respect the markings to coexist with bathers, but outside of summer, it is often deserted.
Medie storiche per mese — non è una previsione live.
The beach is oriented southeast, making it ideal for south to southwest winds in side-shore or perfect side-on conditions. The summer thermal blows between 10 and 15 knots, sometimes up to 20, allowing for smooth navigation without excess power.
Launching is done directly from the marked area on the beach, which is wide and obstacle-free, with a sandbank for takeoff. In summer, navigate beyond the buoys at 300 meters to avoid beachgoers and stay safe.
In tramontane (northwest), the wind is offshore, thus sheltered at the shore, but navigable offshore. The water surface is generally flat to chop, with moderate waves from the southeast. Tides have little impact, but always check local conditions via the Thau Kite Club.
