Marignane
The Jaï beach in Marignane, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, is a kitesurfing spot on the vast Berre pond. Located 30 minutes west of Marseille, it offers a natural space amidst an urban environment, with a sandy beach and lawn stretching 600 meters.
A dedicated kitesurfing area is marked near the Garances parking lot, close to ruins and a stone wall. It is a popular place for its consistent wind, dominated by the Mistral, and its facilities such as kite schools and a nautical base.
Certified Blue Flag since 2016, the beach is monitored in summer and also offers activities like beach volleyball or a free fitness area.

Informazioni dettagliate
The main wind is the Mistral coming from the north, channeled by the Rhône valley, which blows on-shore very strong, often exceeding 30 knots. In summer, the southwest thermal takes over, more stable and moderate, ideal for foiling on calm water. The ideal orientation is north, northwest, west, with a side-on or side-shore by the prevailing wind.
The navigation area extends over 300 meters in the Berre pond, accessible via a marked navigation channel indicated by yellow buoys in front of the launch area. You must use this channel to exit the buffer zone prohibited for swimming and navigation near the airport and homes. Launching is done with feet in the water on a narrow beach, near the parking lot, moving southwest to avoid obstacles.
The launch area is close to the ruins and the wall, with an onshore wind that requires caution for maneuvers on land. Rig only in the dedicated area, prohibited in front of the northeast homes. In summer, access is regulated with a mandatory sticker via Kite13.
