Plage de Cabasson
France · Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The Cabasson beach, located in Bormes-les-Mimosas near the Brégançon fort, offers an iconic setting on the Var coast. It is a popular spot for kitesurfers due to its exposure to the mistral and its natural beauty, with a fine sandy beach bordered by dunes.
Close to the Giens peninsula, it attracts amateurs and pros all year round, but the high summer season makes the spot very crowded. Locals come here to ride in a preserved environment, just a stone's throw from the presidential residence.
Launching is easy on this southeast-facing beach, ideal when the wind sets in.
Medie storiche per mese — non è una previsione live.
Cabasson beach is southeast-facing, making it a perfect spot for the mistral blowing from the northwest in side-on or side-shore conditions, allowing for dynamic sessions on a water state often chop with regular waves. The navigation area is wide, without strict marking like at Almanarre, but you must stay offshore to avoid bathers in summer. Launching is simple on the fine sand, with a good take-off area on the beach itself, protected by the dunes from the prevailing wind.
The water state varies little with the tides in the Mediterranean, remaining navigable at all times, but be cautious of waves that form under strong mistral, ideal for wave riding but technical. The best runs are made towards the open sea in the direction of Pointe de Bregançon, with an easy return thanks to the side-on wind. In summer, the area is prohibited for sliding activities for safety reasons, so prefer spring and autumn for sessions without crowds.
Local peculiarity: the spot is tolerated all year round outside the strict summer season, check with the tourist office for precise dates. No dedicated school on site, but nearby clubs like in La Londe offer courses and equipment.
