Tversted Strand beach is oriented northwest, making it ideal for west and southwest winds in side-shore from the left. Winds too far west become offshore and gusty, making launching more technical; in this case, riders move to neighboring spots more oriented southwest-northeast.

The launch area is shallow with easy access on sand, and the long beach offers a large area for launching and landing. Navigation is done on a water surface with small to medium waves, larger (up to 2m) in west swell, perfect for moderate wave riding without destructive tubes.

Tides have little impact, with a low coefficient and minimal ranges (0.2m max at high, -0.5m at low). The main area is wide, but stay clear of the cliffs to avoid windward jams in west winds. In summer, the wind is lighter, while autumn and spring bring powerful frontal depressions.

Vent ideal
Wdominant
NWdominant
N
NE

Ideal conditions are a west swell with SW-WSW side-shore wind of 10-20 knots. Perfect for moderate and fun waves on the endless beach.

État de la mer

The water surface varies from flat to light choppy depending on wind strength, with regular small and medium waves, larger in SW-WSW swell on the outer sandbanks.

The waves are fun, moderate, with no major danger to the gear, ideal for jumping and riding.

Courants marins

Currents are generally weak due to low tidal ranges (0.2m). The tidal coefficient is often low (around 40), limiting flows.

Be cautious near the piers of Hirtshals port upwind where the current decreases but remains to be monitored.

Taille de kite recommandée

Opt for sizes of 8 to 12m² in moderate summer winds, and 7 to 10m² for powerful frontal sessions in autumn.

Météo & vent

The wind regime is dominated by frontal systems with all possible strength via depressions. The best winds blow in spring and autumn (March, May, September, October, November), stronger in autumn (10-18 knots, up to 20 in winter).

In summer (June-August), lighter at 6-12 knots. Main direction E and SE for optimal side-shore.

Climat

The climate is oceanic influenced by the North Sea, with spring air temperatures of 10-20°C, summer temperatures up to 30°C, and autumn temperatures of 10-16°C. The main season runs from April to November, but you can ride off-season with gear reinforced against the cold.

Always need a wetsuit, and in winter, plan for thickness, mask, shoes, and gloves.

Profondeur

Access is shallow with a sandy bottom, walking for a long time from the shore. Gradual depth without obstacles.

Température de l’eau

In spring 8-13°C, summer 18-23°C, autumn 8-14°C. Always cold, wetsuit required.
