Bovet Bugt is a kitesurfing spot located on the south side of the island of Læsø, in northern Denmark. It is a large flat water area favored by locals for its shallow depth and stable wind.
The spot is located in the western part of the bay, with easy access from the surrounding roads. The conditions are ideal for beginners due to the shallow water and the large available surface.
The atmosphere is calm, typical of Danish island spots, with few people outside the summer season.

flatflatThe Bovet Bugt spot offers an ultra flat water surface perfect for freestyle and learning, especially with east (E) to southwest (SW) winds. The wind is generally side-on or side-shore from these directions, ensuring stable power without too much drift.
Launching is done directly on the grassy or sandy beach of the western part, with a wide and obstacle-free take-off area. Navigation extends over a large shallow area, going up to several hundred meters offshore where the water remains less than 50 cm in the best zones.
Tides have little impact here due to the weak amplitudes in the Baltic Sea, but always check local times. Avoid the eastern part of the bay, prohibited for kitesurfing. Launching and landing conditions are generally good most of the time, although technical in strong offshore winds.
Ideal conditions are with winds E to SW between 12 and 25 knots, side-shore for optimal control and a smooth water surface.
The water state is flat to light chop depending on wind strength, with very shallow water favoring wave-free sessions. In side-on wind, the chop remains minimal and manageable.
Currents are weak in the Bovet Bugt bay due to the natural shelter and shallow depth. The Baltic tides have a minimal range, less than 30 cm, with no major impact on navigation.
Choose sizes from 8 to 12 m² depending on your weight and local wind, smaller for sustained strength and larger for light sessions.

The climate of Læsø is cool oceanic, with moderate temperatures in summer around 15-20°C and colder in winter dropping to 0-5°C. Precipitation is regular but windy days dominate throughout the year.
The kitesurfing season runs from April to September, the permitted period for this spot, with mild summers and reliable winds.
The depth is very shallow, maximum 50 cm, with a sandy bottom and some grassy areas. You can stand far offshore, ideal for falls without risk.
In season (April-September), the water temperature ranges from 10°C in spring to 18-20°C in summer. A 3/2 mm wetsuit is recommended year-round.
