flatThe spot works well with winds from the west to northwest (W, NW, WNW), which are side-shore or side-on relative to the north-facing beach. The water surface is generally flat to chop, with a large shallow area that allows for navigation far from the shore without risk. The launch is directly on the wide sandy beach, with plenty of space to take off the kite without hassle. In case of offshore winds (towards the north), one can cross to the other shore in an emergency, but it remains manageable. The best navigation areas are offshore from the beach, where the flat bottom favors tricks and freeride. There is no tidal influence on the conditions, which simplifies session planning.
Ideal conditions are side-shore winds from W to NW between 15 and 25 knots, providing power and stability without excessive gusts. These directions ensure a clean water surface and good kite control.
The water surface is flat and shallow near the shore, ideal for jumps and freestyle, with some chop during strong winds. Small waves may form in side-offshore conditions, but nothing significant. The area is wide, perfect for avoiding crowds and enjoying dedicated space.
Currents are generally weak to moderate along the beach, but they can become chaotic near shifting sandbanks. There is no major tidal impact on the spot, making navigation predictable. However, be cautious of seabed movements that locally influence water flows.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 12 m² in medium autumn-spring winds, and 11 to 14 m² in lighter summer winds. Adjust according to your weight and the level of frontal gusts.
The wind regime is frontal, linked to Atlantic depressions, with variable strengths throughout the year. The prevailing winds come from the South-West to North-West (SW, WSW, W, WNW, NW, NNW). The best periods are spring and autumn, with stronger winds, while summer is lighter. Any strength is possible, but autumns and springs offer the most reliable conditions for kitesurfing.
The main season runs from April to November, with spring air temperatures between 10 and 20°C, up to 30°C in summer and 10-16°C in autumn. A wetsuit is always necessary, even in season. Off-season, the intense cold requires a thick wetsuit, or even a drysuit, with a hood, booties, and gloves.
The depth is gradual with a sandy bottom, and you can stand in a large area near the beach. The spot is shallow for hundreds of meters, perfect for relaunching without stress.
The water is 8-13°C in spring, 18-23°C in summer, and 8-14°C in autumn. A 5/3 mm wetsuit minimum is required year-round.
