This lagoon between Marsala and Trapani, sheltered by Mozia island, offers flat water 2 m deep over several kilometres — one of the rare places on earth with such a reliable wind + infinite flat combo. Powerful thermals (scirocco, maestrale) blowing 20-30 knots 25 days/month from April to October. Dozens of schools, freestylers from around the world coming to trick, and Sicily around with Palermo, Taormina, Mount Etna. Other spots: Capo Granitola (wilder), San Vito Lo Capo, Mondello, Pachino.

Kite season in Sicily — when to go

Season April to October. Peak July-August (strong wind + tourists), but truly reliable May to September. Scirocco (SE) and maestrale (NW) alternate by day. Off-season: occasional windows in winter but not reliable.

Lo Stagnone (Marsala, west): THE spot, huge flat lagoon, all levels. Capo Granitola: wilder, sometimes wave. San Vito Lo Capo: scenic bay, variable wind. Mondello (Palermo): urban kite. Pachino (southeast): lesser-known lagoon.
