Why Zanzibar
Zanzibar has established itself as THE East African kite destination. Paje, on the southeast coast, hosts most of the schools with its shallow lagoon at high tide, kusi wind (SE) from June to September (18-25 knots) and kaskazi wind (NE) from December to February (15-22 knots). Two seasons, two moods. Water at 26-28°C, white sand, laid-back Swahili vibe, palm-fringed beaches: Zanzibar combines kite with a true paradise destination. Jambiani further south is quieter, Nungwi in the north offers more waves. A Zanzibar kite trip often combines with a Tanzania mainland safari — a high-demand combo for travellers wanting more than a simple kite stay.
