Poppelvej
Danemark · Capital Region of Denmark
Poppelvej in Søvang is a spot located on the southeast coast of Amager, near Dragør in the Copenhagen region of Denmark. It is a popular place for riders due to its very shallow water and flat water protected by sandbanks. The spot offers a simple setting with a small meadow for launching and landing kites.
Close to the capital, it mainly attracts locals and intermediates looking for quiet sessions. Access is easy by car with a short walk to the beach. The atmosphere is relaxed, but it's best to avoid very busy days.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot is oriented southeast and works ideally with winds from the east to southeast (E, ESE, SE), which are then side-on to side-shore perfect for a flat water behind the sandbanks. In front of the banks, there are nice small waves for intermediates. The navigation area is very shallow, with standing possible over long distances, making the spot accessible to cautious beginners.
Launching is done directly from the narrow beach, and the launch area is a small grassy meadow nearby, sufficient for launching without issues. Be careful to stay in the dedicated area as the spot can quickly become overcrowded beyond 5 riders, making navigation chaotic. The main winds in the region are rather west to northwest, but they do not work here.
