Location

Detailed information

Sylten offers side-shore to side-on conditions with east winds, creating a relatively stable water surface. The spot works well during established east winds, providing a good wind window for riders. Entry into the water is directly from the beach, with a gradual access to the water surface.

About 300 meters from the shore, riders find large sandbanks and a water surface free of stones, ideal for progression or calm sessions. Closer to the shore, one must be cautious as the spot presents rocks and stones that can pose problems, especially in the launch area. The water surface is generally flat to slightly choppy depending on tide and wind conditions. The best sessions occur by considering the tide cycles, with an optimal navigation window around low and high tide times.

Risks & Safety

  • Rocks and stones are exposed in the area close to the shore, particularly in the launch and landing zones, to be avoided or navigated around with caution.
  • The spot only works properly with east winds; other wind directions make the spot less interesting or dangerous.
  • It is recommended to navigate at least 300 meters from the shore to avoid obstacles and enjoy the best conditions on the sandbanks.
  • Tide cycles strongly influence conditions; check the schedules before each session.
  • The cold water of Denmark requires a suitable wetsuit, especially outside the summer months.
