The Spiaggia di Puzziteddu, located on the southwest coast of Sicily near Kartibubbo, offers a sandy beach about 150-200 meters long. It is surrounded by kitesurfing facilities such as schools and resorts, making sessions more comfortable for everyone.
The spot is distinguished by its two rocky reefs, Reef Point to the east and Granito Point to the west, perfect for waveriding when waves regularly form. It is a favorite spot for riders due to its combination of soft sand and varied conditions depending on the winds.
Close to Mazara del Vallo, the beach remains relatively wild and ideal for combining kite and relaxation, with clubs on-site for equipment and lessons.

flatThe Puzziteddu spot is oriented southwest, with easy access to the water on the sandy beach in front of the clubs. For the maestrale (NW), dominant, conditions are side-side-off mure to the right at Reef Point, ideal for jumps and wave, or sideoff at Kartibubbo for more regular and spaced waves. In strong wind, experienced riders move to Kartibubbo bay for side-side-off mure to the left with perfect waves for riding.
With the tramontana (N), offshore at Puzziteddu, it is better to kite towards the end of the beach on the west side before the rocks, go upwind at Granito Point between Puzziteddu and Kartibubbo, or directly from Kartibubbo in side-side-off. For the ponente (W), it is side-offshore to the right with long waves in winter. In front of the club, inside the reef, there is a flat water area perfect for freestyle, even in summer maestrale.
Exiting is safe and easy in side-onshore mure to the left if the wind is not too strong, with waves for back sides and jumps. The wind can be gusty 50-100m from the shore, so experience is recommended for exiting. In summer, the thermal maestrale creates freeride and freestyle sessions with smooth water in the reef.
Ideal conditions are with maestrale 20-25 knots side-side-off at Reef Point or Granito Point for wave and freestyle. Also perfect in summer thermal for freeride on flat water.
The water is flat to choppy in front of the club, ideal for freestyle. At the reef points, it becomes wave with regular waves, more spaced out at Granito Point.
Currents are generally weak along the sandy beach. It is important to monitor areas near the reefs where they can intensify with the tides.
Opt for sizes of 9 to 12 m² in standard maestrale, 7 to 9 m² in strong or wave sessions, and 11 to 14 m² in light thermal winds.
The maestrale (NW) is the main wind, frequent in winter and as a thermal in summer from June to August, often reaching 20-25 knots under high pressure. The tramontana (N) blows offshore, while the ponente (W) often follows the scirocco for side-offshore sessions.
The Mediterranean climate of southwest Sicily offers mild winters and hot, dry summers. Temperatures range from 10-15°C in winter to 25-35°C in summer, with an extended kite season year-round thanks to consistent winds.
The depth is gradual with a sandy bottom for the first 150-200 meters. Beyond that, the rocky reefs require caution, but you can stand near the shore at low tide.
Water temperatures range from 15-18°C in winter to 22-26°C in summer, with a shorty wetsuit often sufficient outside the cold season.
