The beach of Spiaggia (north) in Agnone Bagni, on the coast of Syracuse in Sicily, is a long stretch of fine sand bordered by a dense pine forest. It is a simple and natural spot, favored by locals for their winter kitesurfing sessions when the beach empties.
Behind the beach, a row of pines covers a large wooded area, providing some shade and a tranquil setting off-season. The water is clear and the bottom progresses gently, ideal for starting without stress.
People mainly come in winter to avoid the summer bathers' crowd, with a steady wind that makes sessions reliable.

The spot works well with winds from southeast (Scirocco) and northeast (Grecale), which come in side-shore from the open sea, creating a moderate chop water surface suitable for freeride and slalom. Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, wide and obstacle-free, with a clear take-off area to the north where the space is more open.
The navigation area extends along the beach to the north, remaining vigilant on the limits to avoid bathers to the south. In winter, the water surface is cleaner with small side-on waves, perfect for progressing in wave or freeride. Be cautious in summer, the crowded beach imposes not to navigate.
No significant tide here, the bottom remains stable. Ideal sessions take place early in the morning or late afternoon to catch the thermal or prevailing winds, with good visibility over the bay of Syracuse.
Ideal conditions are with 15-25 knots from SE or NE in side-shore, providing a manageable water surface for freeride and first waves.
The water surface is choppy with small waves under Scirocco, becoming more agitated under Grecale. The water remains clear and the sandy bottom ensures navigation without surprises.
Currents are generally weak along the beach, thanks to the sheltered bay. However, be cautious near the coastal channels where they can accelerate slightly with strong winds.
Opt for sizes of 9 to 12 m² in typical conditions, dropping to 7-9 m² under strong winds over 20 knots.
Typical winds are Scirocco from the southeast and Grecale from the northeast, blowing regularly at 15 to 25 knots in winter. Light thermal winds are also observed in summer, but the best sessions come from winter disturbances with stronger gusts.
The Mediterranean climate of the area offers mild winters around 10-15°C and hot summers over 30°C. Rainfall is rare, concentrated in autumn and winter, making the spot usable year-round for other sports but limited for kitesurfing in the low season.
The depth progresses gently with a clean sandy bottom. You can stand up to about 50 meters from the shore, perfect for water starts and maneuvers.
In winter, the water is around 15-17°C, requiring a wetsuit. Summer rises to 24-26°C, but the spot is closed to kiters.
