Informations utiles
The Bork Havn Strand spot works well with side-shore sector winds coming from N, NW, WNW, W, WSW, SW, SSW, NNW, sweeping the southwest-facing beach towards the fjord. Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, wide and easy to access, with a grassy launch area set back for more safety.
The navigation area extends over the fjord with sheltered waters from the open sea, ideal for light freeride or wave sessions. Be cautious of tide variations that influence the water surface: at low tide, the water recedes and exposes more bottom, making launching technical; at high tide, the spot is more uniform.
Waves remain moderate, around 0.8 to 1.1 m, with short periods suitable for intermediates. The wind is often gusty in the North Sea, favoring sessions offshore from the harbor to avoid areas congested with boats.
Ideal conditions are with a side-on to side-off wind of 15-25 kts from the directions N, NW, W, SW. The fjord then offers a clean water surface for jumps and beginner waves.
The water surface is often choppy with small waves averaging 0.9 m, calmer at high tide. The sandy bottom provides good grip for the board.
Currents are generally weak in the fjord but can strengthen near the harbor entrance channel. Tides are moderate with amplitudes of 0.2 m at high and -0.3 m at low.
Opt for sizes of 9 to 11 m² in medium wind of 15 kts, and 7 to 9 m² when it rises to 20-25 kts with gusts.
The prevailing wind comes from the west to northwest, with typical strengths of 12-21 kts and gusts up to 30 kts in the North Sea. There is no specific local name, but it is consistent due to the fjord's exposure.
Forecasts often show viable sessions around 15 kts, with an average score of 50/100 for kitesurfing.
The coastal climate of central Jutland is oceanic, with cool temperatures year-round: 10-15°C in summer and 0-5°C in winter. The seasons are marked by frequent rains and a constant wind.
The best months for riding are variable, often from September to March for strong winds, but summer offers more mild conditions for families.
La profondeur est progressive avec un fond de sable et herbe près du bord. On a pied sur une bonne distance, idéal pour les apprentis.
Water temperatures range from 8-12°C in summer to 4-7°C in winter in the fjord. A full wetsuit is recommended year-round.
