Rio Algar primarily works in side-on to side-shore with Levante winds, which offers fairly safe navigation and good lift offshore. The water surface is generally more comfortable when the wind is consistent, but it can become choppy as the flow increases or when the swell mixes with the wind. The spot is mainly suited for attentive navigation, as water entry occurs in a small, rocky, and quickly crowded area if several riders launch at the same time.

The practice area focuses on the right of the mouth of the Rio Algar and on the small adjacent beach sector, with a safety margin that remains limited. The takeoff must be clean, with a kite well controlled above the head, as space is limited and the presence of rocks makes mistakes costly. Riders generally navigate offshore to keep space, then return to land in a stable wind window. In strong wind, the spot becomes more physical and requires good management of the return to shore, especially when the beach is busy in high season.

The spot is especially interesting when the Levante is well established in spring and summer. However, it is less suitable for beginners than the long sandy beaches in the region, as water entry is trickier and the area close to the shore does not allow for many mistakes. It is a straightforward navigation spot in weather reading, but more demanding in execution, with little room for improvisation.
