Playa de la Llana
Espagne · Region of Murcia
Playa de la Llana, in San Pedro del Pinatar, is a long and quite wild beach, located in the regional park of Salinas y Arenales. It is a spot appreciated for its natural setting, easy access, and calm atmosphere, away from the more crowded urban beaches.
People come here mainly to kitesurf in good conditions when the wind is well established. The area remains exposed, with space to prepare the kite, but it should be kept in mind that the zone is protected and very frequented by walkers and bathers during the season.

At this spot, the wind often comes across the beach, with side-shore to side-on orientations depending on the dominant direction of the day. This is an interesting configuration for kiting, as it allows for fairly comfortable navigation while keeping an easy exit if conditions deteriorate.
The water is generally cleaner offshore from the beach strip, with a zone close to the shore that can be a bit disturbed by short waves and chop when the wind strengthens. There is not a very marked tidal effect like on an Atlantic coast, so reading the spot mainly depends on the wind, the crowd, and the residual swell.
Launching takes place from the large sandy beach, with space to rig and take off, but one must remain cautious due to walkers, bathers, and the protected natural area. Comfortable riders can move away to find cleaner water, while beginners should stay in the area close to the shore and avoid crowded beach edges.
