Platja Port Saplatja, north of Valencia, is a fine sandy beach adjacent to a small picturesque port known as the Little Venice of Valencia. With its colorful buildings and boats, it's a charming spot favored by locals for peaceful walks.
The beach is divided into two parts, north and south, separated by the port entrance. The southern part is the most accessible, right next to a parking lot and a large store, while the northern part is quieter and reserved for residents.
It's a practical urban kitesurfing spot for intermediate riders, with a relaxed atmosphere and nearby services like bars and restaurants on the promenade.

The Port Saplaya spot works well with winds from west (Poniente), northwest (Mistral), and north (Tramontane), which are the main directions in the Valencia region. These winds are often side-on to side-shore relative to the north-south oriented beach, providing good power for freestyle or wave sessions.
The launch area is on a medium-sized sandy beach, easily accessible. The take-off area is decent but be mindful of the space around the port. On the water, you find protected flat behind the breakwaters, then chop and small waves further out. Absolutely avoid the jetties and breakwaters for safe navigation.
No tidal influence on conditions, making the spot reliable all day. The navigation areas are wide in front of the beach, but stay alert to boat traffic near the marina and swimmers in summer. Winds can be gusty in winter, perfect for wind-facing waves.
Ideal conditions are with winds from NW to W at 18-25 knots, side-shore, for flat to small waves. Perfect for freestyle or first wave jumps.
The water surface varies from protected flat behind the breakwaters to chop and small waves further out. Sandy bottom with a gentle slope, perfect for launching.
Currents are generally moderate on this urban beach, but they can intensify near the port entrance. Be cautious of currents, especially in strong offshore winds.
No significant tides influence the spot.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 12 m² in medium wind, and 7 to 9 m² when it picks up with the Mistral.
Typical winds are the strong and consistent Poniente (W), the gusty Mistral (NW), and the powerful Tramontane (N), especially in winter. They blow regularly at 15-25 knots, with an average wind score of 63/100 throughout the year.
All months are viable, but winter brings the most intense sessions.
The Mediterranean climate of Valencia offers mild temperatures year-round, with averages of 10-15°C in winter and 25-30°C in summer. The best months for kitesurfing are from October to April, when the winds are more consistent.
In summer, it is hot and dry, ideal for long sessions, but the spot is more crowded with tourists.
The depth gradually increases over a sandy bottom. You can stand for a long time thanks to the gentle slope, ideal for relaunches.
Water temperatures range from 14-16°C in winter to 22-25°C in summer. A 4/3 wetsuit is recommended from November to March.
