Punta Almadrava is a spot located north of Dénia, in the Valencian Community. This semi-urban beach stretches for nearly 3 kilometers, with a mix of fine sand and pebbles, divided into two coves by the punta itself.
The waters are clear and calm, ideal for families seeking tranquility. It is a popular spot for water sports enthusiasts, especially kitesurfing, thanks to the frequent evening Lebeche wind during the summer.
The beach flies the blue flag for the quality of its water and services, and its name evokes the traditional fishing technique of almadraba for bluefin tuna.

The Punta Almadrava spot offers a spacious navigation area along its 2.9 km beach, with easy access to the water on fine sand mixed with pebbles. The main wind, the Lebeche (southwest), blows in a side-on direction relative to the north-south oriented beach, ideal for dynamic sessions especially in the late afternoon during summer.
The launch area is directly from the beach, about 20 meters wide, with enough space to maneuver without disturbing swimmers. In navigation, you find flat to choppy water near the shore, then small to medium waves breaking at about 60 meters from the shore, perfect for kickers and jumps.
Be cautious of the division by the rocky punta that separates the two coves: stay in the central area to avoid submerged rocks. Tides have little impact here, but check local conditions through kite schools in Dénia for days of strong thermal wind.
Ideal conditions are a side-on Lebeche at 15-25 knots, stable in the late afternoon. Avoid pure onshore which generates excessive chop.
The water state varies from flat near the shore to choppy with small to medium waves (1m) 60m from the shore, offering natural kickers for jumps. The clear and calm waters attract divers and kiters.
Currents are generally weak along the beach, thanks to the sheltered waters of the coves. However, near the punta and rocky areas, they can accelerate with the tide.
Mediterranean tides are weak (amplitude <1m), with no major impact on navigation, but watch out for local rips in case of swell.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 12m² in medium thermal wind, or 7-9m² during peaks at 20+ knots. Adjust according to your weight and level.
The wind regime is dominated by the Lebeche, a southwest wind that often picks up in the late afternoon, especially in summer, with speeds of 15-25 knots. In Dénia, it is also referred to as thermal wind or Garbí, consistent and side-shore for this spot.
Sessions are reliable year-round according to data, with a score of 64/100 and a current direction of 226° (SW), but peaks occur in the warm season.
The Mediterranean climate of Dénia offers hot summers with temperatures around 25-30°C and mild winters around 15°C. The best months for kiting are from May to September, with nearly constant sunshine and little precipitation.
The shoulder seasons (April and October) bring pleasant conditions with fewer crowds, while winter remains navigable thanks to occasional thermal winds.
La profondeur est progressive avec un fond mêlant sable et rochers. On a pied jusqu'à environ 50-60m du bord avant les vagues.
In summer, the water reaches 22-25°C, no wetsuit or shorty needed. Winter around 15-18°C, 3/2 wetsuit recommended. Shoulders at 19-22°C.
