The Plage de la Patacona, located in Alboraya north of Valencia, is a long stretch of fine white sand bordered by a lively promenade with restaurants and kiosks. It is a popular spot for locals due to its proximity to the city and its family-friendly atmosphere, away from the tourist hustle of the central Valencia beaches.
It particularly attracts kitesurfing enthusiasts in winter, spring, and autumn, when the wind picks up strength. In summer, the beach is crowded with bathers, which requires caution when navigating.
Close to Port Saplaya, nicknamed the little Venice, it offers a convenient urban setting with parking and services at hand.

Plage de la Patacona faces east, which means the Tramontane (N) wind blows side-on, perfect for kitesurfing, especially from late summer to spring. The Poniente (O) wind comes side-shore and the Mistral (NO) as well, making the spot versatile for multiple directions.
The navigation area is wide and long, with a large launch and landing area on this expansive sandy beach. The water surface features chop and small waves, regardless of tides which do not influence conditions here.
In winter, the wind is more consistent and offshore for surfing, but for kiting, one must remain vigilant in crowded areas. The best months are from April to October, with sessions possible year-round if the wind cooperates.
Ideal conditions are with wind N, NO or O side-on or side-shore, between 15 and 25 knots for smooth sessions. Possible year-round, but optimal from spring to autumn.
The water surface is generally choppy with small waves, perfect for progressing in freestyle or freeride. In winter, the waves rise a bit for occasional surf-kiting.
Currents are present on this beach, particularly to be monitored during sessions. They are more pronounced near swimming areas and can surprise riders.
Tides do not significantly impact the spot, but it's always important to check local conditions.
Opt for kite sizes of 9 to 12 m² in typical conditions, smaller sizes like 7-9 m² when the Tramontane is blowing strong.
The wind regime is dominated by the Tramontane (N), which blows strong and steady from late summer to spring in northern Valencia. The Poniente (O) and Mistral (NO) are also present, with ideal kite speeds around 8 m/s on average.
The typical wind score is good year-round, with peaks in winter and autumn.
Valencia's Mediterranean climate offers mild temperatures year-round, averaging around 21°C during the day. Winters are mild with no frost, and summers are hot but tempered by the sea breeze.
The ideal seasons for kiting are spring and autumn, with less heat and more consistent wind.
The depth is gradual with a clean sandy bottom. You can stand for a long time thanks to the wide and gentle beach.
