The beach faces southwest, making winds from southeast to southwest perfect in side-on or side-shore, while winds from west and northwest are more onshore. The launch area is easy on the clean sand, with a wide take-off zone free of immediate dangers. The navigation area extends over a large offshore surface, suitable for freestyle and wave when there is chop.
Conditions vary with the type of wind: thermal in summer for flat to chop water, or frontal disturbances for more power and small to medium waves. The tide is neutral, with no major impact on the spot. Be cautious of crowded areas near the school in high season, and prefer the ends of the beach for more space.
The current wind at 235.1° (southwest) with a score of 62/100 is good for a session, but check local gusts due to coastal thermal.
Ideal conditions are with side-on winds from southwest to west, between 15-25 knots, for a perfect mix of power and control in freestyle or wave.
The water surface is flat to chop with thermals, and transitions to small to medium waves under strong winds or disturbances. The water is clean and the sandy bottom provides good grip for moderate waves.
Currents are generally weak along this open coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Tides have little effect, with a minimal range (<50 cm), making the spot usable at any time.
Opt for sizes of 9 to 12 m² in light thermal, and 7 to 9 m² for powerful sessions during disturbances.
The prevailing winds come from the southeast, south, southwest, west, and northwest. There is often thermal wind in the afternoon during summer, consistent and side-shore, or disturbed fronts in autumn-winter for more strength. The typical strength varies from 15-25 knots depending on the season.
The Mediterranean climate of the Tuscan Maremma offers warm summers around 25-30°C and mild winters around 10-15°C. The best months for kiting are all months of the year due to good consistency, with a thermal peak in summer.
The depth increases gradually over a clean sandy bottom. You can stand for a good distance from the shore, perfect for relaunches.
In summer, the water reaches 22-25°C, comfortable in lycra. In winter, it drops to 14-17°C, with a 5/3 mm wetsuit recommended.
