Calambrone Kitesurf Spot
Italie · Tuscany
Calambrone is a kitesurfing spot located between Livorno and Marina di Pisa, in Tuscany. This long sandy beach lined with pine forests attracts riders from the region for its generous space and easy access. Less crowded than the nearby Tirrenia, it offers a relaxed atmosphere ideal for progression or freeriding.
Just south of Calambrone, before the river mouth, there is a spacious launch area on fine sand. It is a reference point for practitioners from the provinces of Livorno and Pisa, suitable for all levels thanks to its flat and shallow waters.
The spot is accessible by car via the SGC FI-PI-LI, with paid parking or on foot from the surrounding areas. Schools and beach bars are nearby for sessions or well-deserved breaks.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The Calambrone spot features a large launch and landing area on a wide sandy beach, with plenty of space even in season. The water access is shallow, perfect for beginners who can stand for a long time. Launching is easy from the beach, and navigation takes place in flat to choppy conditions depending on wind strength, with small to medium waves under west winds.
The dominant sideshore winds come from NNW or SSE, side-on for most sessions, making the spot versatile for freeride, freestyle, or small waves. No tidal influence, conditions remain consistent. In summer, the beach can be lively, so walk far to find free space for launching. With wind, other kiters and windsurfers are often present near the old windsurf club, before the Livorno port bridge.
The navigation area is wide, but stay south of the river to avoid prohibited zones. The water is generally progressively deep, with no major obstacles, ideal for first jumps or foiling.
