Rimini

Beach 39 in Rimini, located in Emilia-Romagna on the Adriatic coast, is a very accessible and popular spot among local riders. It is a friendly and well-equipped place, with the club 39beachRiders founded in 1997 that has animated the spot from Bagno Carlo 39, in the center of the waterfront. The beach offers a vast stretch of sand ideal for beginners, with a relaxed atmosphere and easy access.

The spot stands out for its very accessible nature: it can be reached by car, bus, or train, and the club offers comprehensive services for kitesurfers. The atmosphere varies greatly depending on the season: in summer, the beach becomes very crowded with sun loungers and umbrellas, while in winter and during the off-season, it regains its calm and becomes more interesting for serious sessions.

Conditions de navigation

Beach 39 is a very variable spot depending on wind conditions. The water surface is generally choppy, with a rough and irregular surface that characterizes the Adriatic. When the wind blows from the north-east or north with strength, waves up to two meters can form, turning the spot into a true playground for riders seeking a bit more relief.

The best wind for this spot is the Scirocco from the southeast (SE), which offers the most beautiful and regular sessions. With a north-west (W-NW) wind, it is recommended to position oneself on the free beach next to the port-canal, where conditions become spectacular. Recommended winds include N, NNE, NE, ENE, E, ESE, and SE. The general orientation of the spot is side-shore to side-on depending on the wind direction, which facilitates take-offs and landings. The launch is done directly from the sandy beach, with a spacious and clear launch area. The gradual depth allows for gradual progression as one moves away from the shore.

Ideal conditions at Beach 39 occur with a regular and sustained Scirocco (SE) wind, which offers the best sessions. The north-west (W-NW) wind also creates spectacular conditions, particularly on the free beach next to the port-canal. Winds from the north-east (NE) and north (N) are excellent for generating interesting waves. A minimum wind strength of 15-20 knots is recommended to fully enjoy the spot, with gusts reaching 25-30 knots in disturbance conditions.

État de la mer

The water surface is almost always choppy, with a rough and irregular surface typical of the Adriatic. This characteristic makes the spot less ideal for pure freestyle, but very interesting for progression and wave riding. With stronger north-east or north winds, waves up to two meters form, offering interesting wave conditions. In light conditions, the water remains choppy but navigable. The gradual depth of the sandy bottom allows for good progression as one moves away from the shore.

Courants marins

The current at Beach 39 is generally weak to moderate, making the spot accessible to riders of all levels. However, one must remain vigilant near the port-canal, where the current can become stronger and requires special attention. Tides do not have a major influence on the navigability of the spot, but they slightly affect the depth and wave formation.

Taille de kite recommandée

The recommended kite sizes depend on wind conditions and the rider's weight. For moderate winds of 15-18 knots, a kite of 13-14 m² is appropriate for average riders. With stronger winds of 18-25 knots, kites of 11-12 m² offer better control. For light conditions below 15 knots, a kite of 15-17 m² may be necessary. Experienced riders can adjust these sizes according to their weight and riding style.

Météo & vent

The wind regime in Rimini is dominated by frontal disturbances that bring variable winds. The Scirocco (SE) is the most appreciated local wind, offering regular and predictable conditions. Winds from the north-east (NE) and north (N) are also frequent and generate the best waves. The north-west (NW) wind creates spectacular conditions, particularly on the free beach near the port-canal. Winds from the east to south-east (E, ESE, SE) are regularly present and offer good reliability. Wind strength varies from moderate to strong depending on disturbances, with averages around 15-20 knots in normal conditions.

Climat

Rimini enjoys a typical Mediterranean continental climate of the Adriatic coast. In spring (March to May), temperatures range between 15 and 20°C, with lengthening days and often favorable wind conditions. Summer (June to September) is hot with temperatures between 25 and 30°C, but the wind tends to be less consistent and the beach becomes very crowded. Autumn and winter offer more interesting conditions for kitesurfing with more consistent wind, although temperatures drop significantly.

Profondeur

The depth at Beach 39 is gradual and regular, with a completely sandy bottom. One can stand easily up to 50 meters from the shore, making the spot very safe for beginners and progressing riders. The gentle slope of the bottom allows for a gradual entry into the water and facilitates take-offs and landings. This feature makes Beach 39 an excellent spot for learning.

Température de l’eau

Water temperature varies significantly with the seasons. In spring (March to May), the water is cold with temperatures around 12-15°C, requiring a . In summer (June to September), the water warms up to 22-26°C, allowing for riding in shorty or shorts. In autumn and winter, temperatures gradually drop to 8-12°C, making a thick wetsuit mandatory. A 5/3 mm wetsuit is recommended for winter sessions.
