Rosignano Solvay
Spiagge Bianche in Rosignano Solvay, Tuscany, is a wide and fine sandy beach that stretches for several kilometers along the Livorno coast. This spot is popular among kiters for its generous space and easy access, although the bright whiteness of the sand and water comes from the industrial discharges of the nearby Solvay factory.
The launch is usually done in front of the Lillatro factory in winter, when the entire beach is free. In summer, riders head to the prohibited swimming areas near the discharge channel or the river mouth to the south, to avoid the beach establishments.
It is a lively place with a local kitesurfing community, with conditions suitable for both beginners and freestylers thanks to a shallow water plan over a long distance.

The spot works well with northwest (mistral) or west-southwest (libeccio) winds, which are side-on to side-shore relative to the south-facing beach. In spring and summer thermals, you can regularly reach 15-20 knots. Launching is easy on fine sand, with standing up to 50 meters from the shore, ideal for beginners and freestyle.
In winter, you can ride anywhere on the wide beach. In swimming season (June-September), respect the buoys and use the exit channels to reach 200 meters minimum from the shore. Waves form at a distance, especially the Sabbione wave in front of the factory, perfect in mistral or libeccio. Stay offshore to avoid swimmers and prohibited areas.
No underwater obstacles, clean and gradual bottom. Launch areas are spacious off-season, but in summer, target the southern ends near the windsurfing area.
Ideal conditions in NW 15-25 knots (thermal mistral) or SW for clean waves. Perfect side-shore for freestyle, with long shallow water.
Water conditions are flat to choppy near the beach, with waves forming at a distance in side-off wind. The Sabbione wave is popular for surfing in onshore conditions. The bottom is sandy everywhere, with no rocks.
