A Lanzada

The beach of La Lanzada, located in the municipality of Sanxenxo in Galicia, is a popular spot for kitesurfers due to its constant Atlantic breezes and breathtaking landscapes. This long sandy beach stretches out facing the ocean, providing an ideal setting between wild nature and easy access. Locals enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and varied sessions, from flat water to waves.

Close to Vigo airport, about 60 km away, the spot is easily accessible by car via the A9 motorway or by bus. A large free parking area runs along the beach, and kite schools are set up during the season. It is an authentic place where one can combine riding and Galician cultural discovery.

The beach attracts a moderate crowd in summer but remains spacious for stress-free navigation. The views of the dunes and nearby islands add to the charm of this Atlantic kite paradise.

Location

Detailed information

The beach of La Lanzada offers a large area for launching and landing thanks to its impressive width and length, with a generous downwind space. The water entry is easy on the fine sand, with no major obstacles, although some rocks appear to the south at low tide. The conditions are side-on to side-off with the dominant winds from the northwest (NW) or southeast (SW), perfect for jumps and wave riding.

In summer, the water is often choppy flat with small to medium waves, ideal for intermediates. Winter brings larger waves with SW, but the spot remains usable year-round. No strong tidal influence on the kite, the beach remains wide. Be cautious of swimming areas in high season, marked by buoys.

The downwinder to nearby spots like A Mexilloeira is common. Local schools often manage the beach to streamline traffic.
