Rieste

Alfsee is a large lake located in Rieste, Lower Saxony, at the heart of a leisure complex with camping and a water park. This spot attracts kitesurfers for its calm inland water and easy access from grassy or sandy spots.

Surrounded by green areas, it offers a family-friendly setting conducive to peaceful sessions, away from coastal crowds. Locals regularly practice here thanks to often consistent winds from the west.

It is a versatile place where kite and relaxation are combined at the Alfsee Ferien- und Erlebnispark camping.

Location

Detailed information

The Alfsee spot is navigated on a freshwater lake, with direct access from grassy or sandy shores. The best navigation areas are in the center of the lake, away from the banks to avoid obstacles. Launching is done on grassy or sandy beaches, with ample space for maneuvers.

The dominant side-shore winds come from NW, W, SW, making the water surface chop moderate but rideable. No tidal influence here, the level remains constant. Watch out for swimming areas and boats in the middle of the lake, stay in the corridors dedicated to kitefoilers and twintippers.

Ideal for freeride or light freestyle sessions, with sufficient fetch for constant power in strong winds.
