Yachtclub (former BeeKite Spot)
Germany · Basse-Saxe
The Yachtclub (formerly BeeKite Spot) is a kitesurfing spot located in Butjadingen, Lower Saxony, on the Burhave peninsula. It provides access to a beautiful North Sea lagoon with a flat and shallow water surface, perfect for calm sessions.
Two hours' drive from Hamburg, it is a convenient place for riders from northern Germany. The Kite Brothers Club is available for lessons, a drink, or gear, with parking nearby.
The area is lively with a kite school and facilities like restrooms and a grill, in a quiet setting between the dike and the lagoon.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot works well with winds from N, NNE, NE, ENE, E, ESE, SE, confirmed by locals and guides like Kite Magazin who mention good reception of winds from north-northwest to east-southeast. These directions are side-shore to side-on relative to the northwest-oriented lagoon, providing a good angle for launching from the grassy beach behind the dike.
The navigation area is located to the left of the saltwater swimming area, with a strict limit to respect to avoid bathers. In front of the Buhne, a wide priel forms a shallow water track ideal for freeride or freestyle. Launching and takeoff occur near the Kite Brothers Club, on grass or sand.
At low tide, you need to walk a bit to the water on the flat, but the spot remains usable. At high tide, the water rises and the surface stays flat and shallow. Be cautious of the priel for transitions, and stay within the marked kitezone.
