The spot operates in a marked area of about 80 hectares, accessible only from Strandbad Dornumersiel. Access through the port or coastal cordon is prohibited, as the area is in a protected sector of the national park. Launching is done from the beach, with a clearly limited take-off zone and parking located about 200 meters from the water.
The most interesting wind generally comes with a side-on to side-shore orientation depending on the direction, allowing for clean navigation along the authorized area. According to local feedback, the beach accommodates many wind directions well, with very good utilization of winds from the west to northwest, but also from north to east when they are well-established. The area remains suitable for safe navigation as long as one stays within the authorized perimeter.
The water surface depends on the tide but often remains shallow over a large part of the spot. One mainly navigates in flat to slightly choppy water, with a feeling of great space. The spot is subject to a time rule around high tide, with navigation allowed 3 hours before and 3 hours after high tide. Registration at the Vertigo station is mandatory before getting on the water.
