Detailed information
Side-shore winds from the west and northwest are the most common from April to October, often blowing between 15 and 30 knots on the North Sea. The beach faces northwest, making winds from N, NNE, NE, ENE, E, ESE, WNW, NW, NNW work well, confirmed by local sources and users.
Launching is easy from the sandy beach near the surf club, with a wide and clear take-off area. The navigation area is marked on the beach and in the water: stay within the buoys to avoid maritime traffic towards the lock.
The water is generally flat to choppy in the Hooksmeer, protected from currents, ideal for beginners. Offshore, it becomes chop with waves up to 2m at low tide and northwest wind, perfect for jumping. Be careful not to go too far out, especially in deep water.
