Enkhuizen Strand
Pays-Bas · North Holland
Enkhuizen Strand is a spot located on the shores of the IJsselmeer in Enkhuizen, North Holland. It is a popular place for kiters due to its shallow water near the shore and easy access from the city.
The spot offers a relaxed atmosphere with paid parking nearby and a narrow launch area. The city of Enkhuizen, with its charming harbor, is worth a visit after a session.
The terrain mixes sand and grass, ideal for beginners who can stand for a long time.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot works well with winds from N, NE, NNE, ENE, E, and ESE, which are side-shore or side-on relative to the northwest-facing beach. Near the shore, the water is flat over a 500m stretch with standing, perfect for waterstarts and beginners; further out, it becomes chop typical of the IJsselmeer.
The launch area is very narrow, better to opt for a waterstart to avoid the trees. The navigation area extends about 2km along the coast, north of the historic city; stay vigilant not to disturb swimmers or other water sports in good weather.
No major tidal effect on the IJsselmeer, but the prevailing wind creates chop beyond the shallow area. Be aware of local rules that may change.
