Harderstrand Zuid offers a water surface of the type flat to slightly choppy, typical of the Veluwemeer, with more comfortable navigation when the wind is well established. According to local sources in the area, the spot is especially suited for winds from NE, ENE, and E, which often come side-on depending on the exact takeoff area. The water surface generally remains usable for kiting, with plenty of space to maneuver, but you need to maintain clean navigation and avoid encroaching on swimming and leisure areas.

Entry into the water is from a sandy beach, with a launch area that is of medium to decent size. The spot is suitable for a relaxed practice, without surf or waves, and works well for regular runs. In summer, there may be traffic, so it is better to stay alert to other users and choose a clear area to rig and launch.

The site is more enjoyable when the wind is stable and oriented side-shore to side-on. However, with poorly oriented wind, the spot becomes less clean and less comfortable for navigation. Like much of the Veluwemeer, you benefit from an inland environment, thus generally smoother water than on the coast.
