Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The spot works well with winds from N, NW, NE according to the local school, but the directions SSW, SW, WSW, W, WNW, NW, NNW are also ideal according to experienced users and confirmed by several sources on the IJsselmeer. These winds are generally side-shore or side-on relative to the south-facing beach, providing good power without too much drift.
The water is exceptionally shallow up to 100 meters from the shore, making it easy to launch directly from the water or grassy beach. The navigation area extends over the lake with a large launch zone near the campsite, but care must be taken to stay away from swimming areas and boats in season.
Behind the sandbar, the water becomes deeper up to 5 meters, ideal for foiling. No tidal influence, the water remains stable. The spot can be crowded in high season, especially on weekends.
