Korfos Bay, located 2.5 km from Mykonos Town in the southwest of the island, is a popular spot for kitesurfing enthusiasts. Its concave shape and north orientation make it a perfect place to catch the consistent wind. The beach is generally calm, away from the crowds of nearby tourist beaches like Ornos.
The shallow waters particularly attract beginners, while more experienced riders enjoy the chop for freestyle or small jumps. A fisherman sometimes sets his nets at the end of the day, but the spot remains deserted most of the time.
Close to the airport, it offers easy access for travelers, with an authentic and less touristy atmosphere.

The Korfos Bay spot offers mainly side-onshore or onshore wind coming from the north due to the Meltemi, which establishes itself mainly in the afternoon. The launch is done on a sandy beach with designated areas for takeoff and landing, avoiding the rocky parts on the sides. The waters close to the shore are flat and shallow, ideal for waterstarts and freestyle, while offshore the chop becomes moderate, perfect for jumps or small rides in light waves.
The bay is narrow, so the trajectories remain short, which is well-suited for freeride, wakestyle, or hydrofoil. Be cautious of gusts on windy days, which can make navigation more technical, especially for novices. No organized downwinders, but advanced riders can aim for Panormos with several back-and-forths if the gear is reliable.
Ideal conditions are a wind from the north to northeast between 15 and 25 knots, stable side-onshore for smooth sessions. The Meltemi ensures this reliability in summer.
The water state varies from flat near the shore to moderate chop offshore, with small waves in strong wind. The shallow waters remain smooth for beginners, and the spot handles freeride or freestyle sessions well.
Currents are generally weak in the protected bay. Tides have a limited impact in the Mediterranean, with no strong variation in the water level. However, be cautious of fishing lines occasionally set by a local fisherman in the evening.
Opt for sizes of 7 to 12 m² in light to moderate wind, suitable for light waves and rider weight. In strong Meltemi, go down to 7-9 m².
The wind regime is dominated by the Meltemi, a constant and strong north wind, particularly in July and August where it averages 20-24 knots. It blows thermally in the afternoon, stable due to the bay's shape that channels the air. The best months cover the entire year with a high score of 92/100.
The climate of Mykonos is dry Mediterranean in summer, with very little rain and warm temperatures around 25-30°C from June to September. Winter is milder, with lows around 10-15°C, but the wind remains reliable year-round according to the provided data.
The depth is gradual and shallow near the shore with a sandy bottom, allowing for good footing over a distance. Perfect for learners, but watch out for submerged rocky areas.
In summer, the water reaches 22-25°C, sufficient for boardshorts or shorty. In spring and autumn, expect 18-22°C, and 16-18°C in winter.
