Paros

Santa Maria is a beautiful bay located on the northeast coast of Paros, near Naoussa. This north-facing white sand beach offers an idyllic setting with its crystal-clear waters and relaxed atmosphere.

It is a spot favored by kiters and windsurfers for its direct exposure to the Meltemi and its proximity to the picturesque village of Naoussa. Watersports centers offer lessons and rentals on-site.

The beach is very crowded in high season, with restaurants and beach bars nearby.

Location

Detailed information

The bay of Santa Maria is north-facing, receiving the N/NNE Meltemi directly onshore, which creates a water surface with short and powerful chop, more agitated than to the east of the island like at Golden Beach. The navigation area is well exposed in the bay, with enough space to ride, but care must be taken to coexist with bathers in high season.

Launching takes place on a sandy beach with shallow access, but beware of rocks in the center and at the southern end. Takeoff and landing are facilitated by the onshore wind that pushes back towards the beach, making the spot relatively safe. The wind picks up around noon and peaks in the afternoon, with a good fetch from the northern Cyclades without channeling effects.

The spot mainly works from June to September, with conditions suitable for intermediates looking for chop for jumps and moderate freestyle.
