Location

Detailed information

The spot works well with east to southeast winds, which come in side-shore or side-on relative to the beach orientation facing southwest. At low tide, the water surface is flat to light chop, ideal for beginners who can stand for a long time and navigate close to the shore. The launch area is directly from the sandy beach, but one must choose areas without rocks to avoid snags. The take-off zone is wide at mid-tide, with enough space to position oneself without disturbing bathers in season. At high tide, the water rises and the spot remains navigable but with more chop if the wind strengthens. Sessions generally take place in the protected cove, avoiding the offshore areas towards the Chaises de Primel where the current can be surprising. With 12-15 knots from the east, you can ride on small right waves near Roc'h Louët, and there is sometimes turbulence upwind of Roc'h Goalen due to the swell. The spot is windy year-round in Brittany, but the best sessions occur with the incoming tide to gain a few knots.
