Goas Treiz is a kitesurf spot in Trébeurden, Brittany, on the Pink Granite Coast. This northwest-facing beach attracts windsurfers and kiters for its wind exposure and natural setting with pink granite islands.
It is a popular spot among locals, comparable to Toëno in intermediate level. The sandy beach is bordered by the road, with a relaxed atmosphere and high attendance on weekends.
The spot works well with west winds, offering nice sessions depending on the tide.
The wind data shown here comes from ERA5 (via Open-Meteo) over 4 years, reprocessed to reflect realistic conditions.
👉 Average wind has been calibrated to avoid the usual underestimation of models.
👉 Gusts have been corrected by a median ratio to avoid unrealistic extreme values.
👉 Each day is summarized by the median wind (P50) observed during useful hours (8am–8pm), then classified into wind ranges.
👉 The weighted mode mixes average wind and gusts to best reflect felt wind.
The Goas Treiz spot offers a flat to choppy water plan, with shallow areas influenced by the tides. At high tide, it is ideal for foil and windsurfing, with moderate chop; at low tide, the water is flat, perfect for twintip.
Launching is done directly from the sandy beach of tidal size, but the launch area is small, along the road. Side-on winds from the NW or SW are optimal, with the spot particularly well-receiving the southwest. Navigation in front of the pink granite islands, while being mindful of shallow areas.
High attendance on weekends and holidays; better for intermediates and experts who manage the tides and the proximity to the road.
The ideal directions are W and NW, side-on for the beach, with good reception from the SW. Any west wind works well.
Water conditions are flat at low tide, turning to chop or ripples at high tide. There are shallow and tidal zones, with a sandy bottom and some rocks under low water levels.
The currents are moderate, related to the significant tides in Brittany. Beware of variations near the islands and shallow areas; a coefficient above 80 at high tide reduces the beach.
For typical winds of 15-25 knots, opt for sizes 9 to 11 m² for intermediate, up to 7-9 m² for stronger days.
The prevailing winds come from the NW and SW, with a regular west regime that works across the west. The spot is favored by windsurfers for its reception of the southwest. Typical strengths of 15-25 knots for standard sessions.
The climate in Brittany is oceanic, with warm summers (shorty or thin wetsuit) and cold winters (thick wetsuit). The best months for kitesurfing are April to September, although January to April and September can be windy.
Depth is progressive with a sandy bottom and shallow areas. You can stand far out at low tide, but there are rocks under low water.
In summer, the water reaches 13-17°C (4/5 mm wetsuit), cold in winter at 7-10°C (thick wetsuit or drysuit). Risk of hypothermia in the low season.
