Saint-Brevin-les-Pins

The Pointeau beach, in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins in the Pays de la Loire, is a popular spot for kitesurfing with its large sandbank and family-friendly atmosphere. Located facing the ocean and the Loire estuary, it attracts schools and riders for its easy access and consistent conditions. The spot is lively with water activities, featuring spacious parking and amenities on site.

The sandbank formed after the construction of the nautical center, creating an ideal area for navigation at low tide. It is an authentic place where kite, wingfoil, and freeride mix, although restrictions apply during the high season.

Location

Detailed information

The spot works well with winds from S to NW, the best orientation being SW side-shore which comes perfectly from offshore to flatten the water surface. At low tide, you can enjoy the large sandbank for easy launching and a navigation area flat to light chop, ideal for freestyle and foil. The launch area is on the wide beach in front of the nautical center, but you should avoid getting too close to the dyke or the parking wall to prevent snagging.

At high tide with a high coefficient, the spot is not recommended as the water rises high and reduces the usable beach. The navigation area extends several hundred meters offshore from the sandbank, with enough space for freeride and foil even when busy. Schools use dedicated zones, and during allowed periods, you can navigate peacefully while respecting the priority of bathers. Be cautious of windsurfers in speed mode who are flying at full speed on fast runs.
