Plage de Luzéronde
France · Pays de la Loire
The Luzéronde beach, located on the island of Noirmoutier-en-l’Île in Pays de la Loire, is a large stretch of fine sand without pebbles. It is a kitesurfing, windsurfing, and wing spot appreciated for its easy access and ocean orientation. The setting is typical of the island, with a calm atmosphere outside the summer season.
The spot is regulated and prohibited from May 15 to September 30 to preserve swimming, making it ideal for sessions outside of summer. Locals come for the consistent west to northwest wind and the wide beach that facilitates launching.
Accessible to all levels when open, it offers a good balance between safety and technical conditions depending on the tide.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
Luzéronde beach is oriented west, making winds from west to northwest side-shore perfect, with a side-on power that pushes well towards the beach without too much drift. In pure west wind, it is light onshore manageable, but avoid pure offshore winds which are rare here. The navigation area extends across the entire width of the beach, several hundred meters wide, with easy launching everywhere thanks to the fine sand without obstacles.
Prefer the 3 hours before and after low tide, as at high tide, a powerful shorebreak makes takeoff and launching risky, especially for beginners. At low tide, the water is calmer with safe footing near the shore, ideal for waterstart and freestyle. The launch area is generally in the center or to the right of the main access, to be respected to avoid conflicts with swimmers outside the prohibited period.
Local feature: the spot becomes choppy at high tide or with west swell, forming a technical water surface for strapless or moderate wave riding. In strong wind, stay offshore to avoid the edge and the shorebreak. Easy parking access, but busy in summer even though kiting is prohibited.
