Plage de l’Ermitage
France · Pays de la Loire
The Ermitage beach, located in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins in the Pays de la Loire, is a well-established kitesurfing spot on the Atlantic coast. It offers a large practice area with dedicated zones, especially thanks to the presence of a certified kitesurfing school.
The spot is appreciated for its consistent wind from the south to northwest and its conditions suitable for freeride or foil. In summer, marked zones limit navigation to respect swimmers and surfers.
At low tide, the sandy expanse is ideal for landkite, attracting mountainboard and buggy enthusiasts.

The spot works well with side-on to side-off winds from south to northwest, the best orientation being NW which offers a clean water surface. At low tide, the water surface is quite flat or with a slight chop, perfect for intermediate beginners in freeride or foil, and you can stand on a large sandy area.
At mid-tide to high tide, waves form on the edge, nice for freestyle, but often in onshore conditions with a shorebreak that makes launching technical. The navigation area is marked, especially in summer: respect the buoys for kiting, surfing, and swimming. Launching is done directly from the sandy beach, with easy take-off outside prohibited zones.
Local feature: the spot is very busy in summer, but schools reduce conflicts. In winter, more freedom, and landkite dominates at low tide on the vast flat area of Pointeau at Ermitage.
