L’Armor

The **Sillon du Talbert** is a sand and pebble spit that extends 3 km into the ocean, at the northern tip of Brittany near Plébian in Côtes d'Armor. This wild spot attracts riders for its variety of conditions and its isolated setting between the presqu'île de Lézardrieux and the choppy sea.

It is a popular spot among locals despite limited tolerance due to wildlife protection and the many pedestrians on the paths. Kitesurfers mainly ride here at high tide to avoid the pebbles and rocks.

The landscape changes with the tides, revealing fields of seaweed or flat areas ideal for freestyle.

Location

Detailed information

The Sillon du Talbert works with almost all wind orientations, but the best are from NE, E, W, and NW, which create a side-shore or side-on water surface perfect for riding between the spit and adjacent areas. At high tide, the launch area is wide and sandy on the east side, with flat for beginners and chop or small waves on the west side.

The launch beach is tidal, limited at high tide due to polished pebbles everywhere; you launch alone on sandy patches, but be careful of pedestrians and protective barriers. The riding area extends 3 km along this mineral spit, with shallow waters at first then more choppy towards the end.

With an easterly wind, you can ride between the Sillon du Talbert and the Sillon Noir, with beautiful water colors and protected flat. Avoid south or southeast winds which are less stable and less cross for the northwest-oriented beach.

Risks & Safety

  • Rocks and reefs are scattered in the water, especially on the west side at low tide.

  • The area is protected for bird nesting, avoid approaching the dunes.

  • Be cautious of pedestrians on the paths and the limited tolerance of local authorities.

  • The current accelerates in the channel, do not kite alone.
