Ellenbogen
Allemagne · Schleswig-Holstein
Ellenbogen, located at the extreme north of the island of Sylt near List, is a unique kitesurfing spot in Northern Germany. This natural fine sand beach surrounded by dunes offers an idyllic setting with its typical red and white lighthouses and sheep pastures. The Königshafen, which borders the spot, is a protected shallow water area located in the Wadden Sea, one of the most remarkable areas of the German coast.
It is a spot favored by riders for its ideal conditions for beginners and training. On clear days, you can even see Denmark from the beach. The site combines accessibility and preserved natural surroundings, making it a popular destination for local kitesurfers and kitesurfing schools.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
Ellenbogen works with almost all wind directions, making it a very versatile spot. The best orientations are ENE, E, ESE, SE, SSE, S, SSW, SW, WSW, and W, which offer ideal side-shore to side-on conditions. To avoid: winds from NW that become light and very gusty as the wind must first pass over the dunes before reaching the water surface.
The Königshafen is a protected standing area primarily offering flat water with occasionally small waves depending on the strength and direction of the wind. Launching is easy from the sandy beach, and the navigation area is well defined. The water remains accessible even with little wind due to its protected configuration, making it particularly suitable for beginners and training sessions.
