Weidefelder Strand
Germany · Schleswig-Holstein
Weidefeld is a kitesurfing spot located near Kappeln in Schleswig-Holstein, in northern Germany. It is a place favored by experienced riders for its consistent waves and authentic atmosphere away from the crowds.
The spot is characterized by a very steep launch right from the start, making it a location reserved for advanced riders. During the summer, the beach becomes very crowded with bathers and tourists, which can complicate sessions.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
Weidefeld only works with east winds (N, NNE, NE, ENE, E, ESE, SE). The SW to NW wind, which is the locally dominant regime, does not generate good conditions at this spot. When conditions are right, the wind creates quality waves, particularly at the pier where the best waves form in NE or N.
The launch is very steep right at the edge, requiring good mastery of takeoff and kite management. A marked shore break appears with stronger east winds. The spot is independent of tides, meaning that conditions remain relatively stable throughout the day. The navigation area extends from the beach to the pier, where the best waves concentrate.
