Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer

The Rougeret beach in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer, Brittany, is a family beach with a water sports center on site. It attracts kitesurfers due to its exposure to northern winds and its wide sandy area at low tide. There are showers, toilets, and lifeguard services in the summer.

It is the starting point for walks to the Ebihens archipelago at low tide. The Nautical Club offers activities such as kite, windsurfing, and wingfoiling all year round. The atmosphere is friendly, shared between families and local riders.

The spot is part of the bay of Lancieux, a place appreciated for its variety of practices, from freeride to freestyle.

Location

Detailed information

Rougeret beach is ideal for north to northeast winds, which blow side-shore from the beach, offering a good angle for navigation. For east winds, it is a preferred launch spot in the bay of Lancieux, with easy access to the water on the sand. The navigation areas extend in the middle of the bay, especially at low tide where the space increases and remains flat.

At high tide, be cautious of shorebreak and wind disturbance from the nearby cliff; prefer to launch a bit further out. The launch area is on the beach itself, wide and sandy, but avoid the edges of the Ebihens archipelago to avoid the rocks. In northwest wind, the spot is usable but less optimal, with a water surface that can become choppy if the wind is irregular.

Local peculiarity: high attendance with south wind in the bay, so maintain safety distances with windsurfers and other kiters. Summer sees many self-learners, and the nautical club offers dedicated areas for lessons.
