Sharm El Sheikh

The Kite Bubble Spot in Sharm El Sheikh, in the bay of Nabq in South Sinai, is a lagoon protected by a reef offering more than 3 km² of flat water. It is a favored spot for both beginners and experienced riders who perfect their tricks safely. Just 10 minutes from the airport, it remains preserved and picturesque despite the neighboring resorts.

The riding area is shallow, with water up to the knees or chest in most sectors. The spot is accessible directly from the beach of Coral Sea Water World or Laguna Vista, with a certified IKO school on site. The atmosphere is relaxed, with chill spaces for families and friends.

Open all year round, it is a paradise for freeride kitesurfing, with no motorboats or obstacles to disrupt sessions.

The wind mainly blows cross to cross-onshore from the northwest (NW) or north, making the lagoon ideal for launching and taking off directly from the sandy beach. The riding area extends over more than 3-4 km² of flat and shallow water, protected by a reef that blocks waves from the open sea and limits the impact of tides. Beginners can progress safely in waters up to their knees, while advanced riders find space for jumps and flat tricks in the center of the lagoon.

Launching is easy on clean sand over about 1 km of beach, with no jetties or bridges to complicate things. The water remains flat even in strong winds, with only a slight chop during intense gusts. A local weather station allows checking accurate forecasts, and rescue is provided by the school with beach assistance available at all times. There are no marked prohibited areas, but reefs should be navigated around for deeper zones.

SE

Ndominant

The ideal conditions are a cross-onshore wind at 20 knots or more from the NW, stable in the morning for endless flat sessions. All year round is suitable, with a peak reliability from September to June.

État de la mer

The water surface is mostly flat and shallow, with depths from knee to chest in the main area. The bottom is sandy with a few reef areas to navigate around, providing an ideal space for freeride and tricks without intrusive waves. The lagoon remains navigable in all winds thanks to its natural protection.

Courants marins

The currents are weak to negligible in the lagoon thanks to the protection of the reef and the spit that closes the spot. Tides do not affect navigability, as the water remains shallow everywhere. In case of an accident, the drift gently brings you back to the reef, the beach, or the dock.

Taille de kite recommandée

For typical winds of 15-25 knots, plan for sizes of 9 to 12 m² for most riders. Beginners opt for 12 m², while advanced riders go down to 7-9 m² on strong days.

Météo & vent

The wind regime is stable thanks to the same system as Dahab, with a high percentage of days over 20 knots. It typically blows from the NW in the morning, becoming cross-onshore in the afternoon, with remarkable consistency all year round. Nabq is one of the windiest spots in Sharm, perfect for regular sessions without interruptions.

Climat

The climate of Sharm El Sheikh is warm and dry all year round, with daytime temperatures between 25°C in winter and 35-40°C in summer. The dry seasons dominate, with no significant rain, and the air remains pleasant thanks to the sea breeze. The high season runs from September to June, ideal for extended sessions without excessive heat.

Profondeur

La profondeur est progressive de 0,5 à 1,5 m (genoux à poitrine) sur toute la zone de ride, avec un fond majoritairement sableux. Les secteurs centraux offrent assez d'espace sans toucher le fond pour les tricks.

Température de l’eau

The water temperature ranges from 22-24°C in winter to 28-30°C in summer. A short lycra is sufficient all year round, with a 3/2 neoprene in winter for those sensitive to the cold.
