The main wind comes from the north, in side-shore perfect for the lagoon, allowing for long and stable sessions. The riding area is immense, over 5000 meters of flat water in the shallow lagoon, ideal for beginners and tricks at anchor.
Launching is done directly from the wide sandy beach, with no obstacles, and the launch area is spacious. For the more advanced, you can ride upwind to deeper areas or waves a mile upwind, but most stay in the protected flat.
No significant tidal effect here, the water remains flat to light chop even in strong winds. Sessions often start in late morning, with the wind gradually increasing to 20-30 knots in the afternoon.
Ideal conditions are a north to northwest wind of 15-25 knots, side-shore, for maximum power and control in flat water. Avoid overly strong days beyond 30 knots if you are not an expert.
The water surface is mostly flat in the lagoon due to its protected shape, with a slight chop in strong winds. The turquoise water is clear and shallow everywhere, perfect for waterstarts and freestyle.
Currents are weak to negligible in the protected lagoon. Be cautious only if heading out to open sea, where they can be more pronounced.
No significant tides in the Gulf of Suez, the range remains minimal and does not impact navigation.
Opt for sizes of 9 to 12 m² on average, depending on your weight and the wind of the day. 7-9 m² are suitable for windy summer days, while 11-13 m² are ideal in lighter winter conditions.
The wind regime is dominated by northerly trade winds, stable and side-shore, with average speeds of 15-25 knots during the day. It strengthens in summer, sometimes up to 30 knots, and is more reliable from September to June.
