Conditions de navigation

The main wind comes from the north-northeast, side-shore relative to the east-facing beach, ensuring easy launching from the fine sandy beach. The lagoon offers a flat and shallow water surface, perfect for beginners as well as advanced riders, with a large navigation area of about 300m x 500m.

The launch area is on the sandy beach, wide and obstacle-free. At high tide, the entire lagoon is usable without worry, but at low tide, some parts become very shallow, requiring caution to avoid overly dry areas. In summer, the lagoon is only usable for about 4 hours a day at low tide, while in winter it remains accessible longer.

Downwind, you can aim for the Napoleon reef for stronger winds and some waves, but stay in the lagoon for freeride or freestyle safely. The surrounding mountains create a thermal effect that strengthens the wind in the afternoon.

Ideal conditions are with a side-shore wind from the north-northeast between 15 and 30 knots, stable and thermal, to fully enjoy the flat water. All year round is suitable, but the afternoon is often the best time.

État de la mer

The water surface is flat and shallow, knee to hip deep near the shore, with areas up to 2m at high tide. The turquoise water is warm and clear, with no corals in the lagoon.

Ideal for wakestyle or freeride, with a clean sandy bottom.

Courants marins

Currents are generally weak in the closed lagoon, separated from the sea by a sandbar. However, be cautious at low tide where the flow can be more pronounced near the passes.

In open sea downwind, currents increase near the reefs, but the lagoon remains protected.

Taille de kite recommandée

For winds of 15-25 knots, opt for sizes 9 to 11m². In gusts of 25-40 knots, go down to 7-9m² for better control.

Météo & vent

The dominant wind is a constant thermal from the north-northeast, which picks up in the morning, peaks at noon and in the afternoon, with strengths between 15 and 40 knots all year round. The venturi effect of the Gulf of Aqaba accelerates the wind, often stronger than expected.

In summer, gusts can reach 30 knots or more, perfect for intense sessions. The score of 97/100 reflects this exceptional consistency.

Climat

The climate is hot and dry all year round in South Sinai, with daytime temperatures around 25-35°C in summer and 20-25°C in winter. Nights can be cool, especially in winter, where it drops to 10-15°C, so plan for warm clothing.

The kite season runs from March to December, with stronger winds in summer due to the effect of the mountains. The best months cover the whole year according to the stats, but summer is the peak.

Profondeur

The depth is gradual and shallow, from knee to hip deep near the shore, with a sandy bottom. Some areas reach 2m at high tide, perfect for learning.

Température de l’eau

The water is warm all year round, around 24-28°C in summer and 20-24°C in winter. Boardshorts are sufficient, no need for a wetsuit.
