Egypt · Sinaï Sud
The Lagoon lagoon in Dahab, South Sinai, Egypt, is an isolated spot north of the bohemian town of Dahab. Surrounded by mountains and a fine white sandy beach, it offers crystal clear, shallow turquoise water, ideal for kitesurfing.
It is a quiet place with simple Bedouin-style straw bungalows where you can stay. The consistent wind blows almost all year round, and the flat waters make it a paradise for riders of all levels looking to progress safely.
Near the Gulf of Aqaba, this spot benefits from a natural venturi effect between the Sinai and Arabian mountains, making sessions consistent and enjoyable.
Historical averages by month — not a live forecast.
The main wind comes from the north-northeast, side-shore relative to the east-facing beach, ensuring easy launching from the fine sandy beach. The lagoon offers a flat and shallow water surface, perfect for beginners as well as advanced riders, with a large navigation area of about 300m x 500m.
The launch area is on the sandy beach, wide and obstacle-free. At high tide, the entire lagoon is usable without worry, but at low tide, some parts become very shallow, requiring caution to avoid overly dry areas. In summer, the lagoon is only usable for about 4 hours a day at low tide, while in winter it remains accessible longer.
Downwind, you can aim for the Napoleon reef for stronger winds and some waves, but stay in the lagoon for freeride or freestyle safely. The surrounding mountains create a thermal effect that strengthens the wind in the afternoon.
