Providencia
Manchineel Bay is the main kitesurfing spot on the island of Providencia, the wild little sister of San Andrés. Accessible only by boat or small plane, this UNESCO-protected island is a true paradise still preserved from mass tourism. Manchineel Bay is an immense turquoise lagoon, sheltered by the coral reef and bordered by lush mangroves. The scenery is unreal: flat sea, crystal-clear light, tranquil Caribbean atmosphere. It’s a spot pure, wild, and perfectly suited for freeride as well as freestyle. Riders who visit discover a totally different Colombia, where nature takes back its rights and every session feels like a timeless adventure.

Location
Detailed information
The wind blows side-onshore (from the right) from the coral reef, creating a perfectly flat to slightly choppy water surface. At low tide, the bay becomes a vast mirror of turquoise water, ideal for freestyle or long, calm sessions. At high tide, a slight chop appears, without disturbing navigation. The launch beach is sandy, lined with palm trees and a few colorful houses. The bottom is sandy, without rocks or corals, and the depth is shallow over a large area. The spot is ideal for sailing safely, but the island's isolation requires a good level of autonomy. You can also explore the surroundings downwind to Southwest Bay or Lover’s Lane, two other superb areas for kiting.
