Cartagena

Just 15 minutes from the historic center of Cartagena, La Boquilla beach offers a unique experience: kiting in front of the skyscrapers of a UNESCO-listed colonial city. It is the ultimate urban spot, perfect for combining kite sessions and cultural getaways. There are long stretches of fine sandy beaches lined with schools, fishing shacks, and small local bars. The wind is milder than at northern spots, but the friendliness, local atmosphere, and accessibility make it a must-visit destination for travelers who want to kite without straying far from the city. It’s the ideal place to learn, progress, or simply ride at sunset, with the Bocagrande towers in the background.

Location

Detailed information

The wind blows side-onshore (from the right), ensuring safe and comfortable navigation. The water is choppy, sometimes a bit messy depending on the swell, but remains very navigable. The beach is wide, sandy, and clear: perfect for the kite schools that are numerous there. Experienced riders can head north, where the wind becomes cleaner and the water more consistent. It’s an ideal spot for relaxed freeride, end-of-day sessions, or learning.
